this seminar\, I will describe two studies. The first is about the identifi
cation of neurons forming a central rhythm generator and their recurrent in
hibitory synaptic connections as the key mechanism in rhythm generation. Th
is is achieved using in vivo photo-tagged recording\, functional manipulati
ons\, connectivity tracing and synaptic perturbation experiments. The secon
d is about the identification of a central pain-suppression circuit that is
activated by general anesthesia to prevent nociception without affecting c
onscious perception\; and how we can use this circuit to reverse engineer a
 placebo effect.

<a href="https://neuroscience.wustl.edu/news-events/
