my studies learning and memory — whether it’s how we memorize facts or slow
ly learn habits. Recently\, she found that there’s more “crosstalk” between
these two forms of learning than previously thought\, raising questions ab
out what different parts of the brain are doing as we learn and how what we
learn affects the decisions we make.

About the Trotter Lecture

The Washington University Medical School Alumni Association honored Mild
red Trotter\, PhD\, a member of the faculty for more than 55 years\, by end
owing a lectureship in her name. Trotter\, who retired in 1967 to become p
rofessor emeritus and lecturer\, was the first woman faculty member to be r
ecognized in this way. The lectureship acknowledges Trotter’s deep concern
for the role of women in academic life by bringing a distinguished woman sc
ientist to WashU Medicine every year.

<a href="https://neuroscience.w
