Join the WashU Medicine Department of Neuroscience on Oct 30th for the Andreas Burkhalter Symposium: Functional Architecture of Cortex, a tribute to the career of Burkhalter.

The symposium will cover the structure, function, connectivity and architecture of the cerebral cortex.

Andreas Burkhalter has been a member of the Department of Neuroscience since 1984. He is Professor of Neuroscience at WashU.

Burkhalter pioneered the analysis of structure, function, and connectivity of mouse visual cortex. His work has shown that partitioning into multiple areas, distributed sensory processing, hierarchical wiring of bottom-up and top-down pathways, and modular circuit organization are conserved architectural features of mammalian cortex. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
